McLaren / Kettering Fibromyalgia Research Program

Seeking solutions to chronic pain through the science of the brain

Welcome!

In 2002 research scientists and physicians from Kettering University, McLaren Regional Medical Center, and NeuroHealth Management teamed up to study the chronic pain condition Fibromyalgia (FM).

Led by Dr. Jeff Hargrove, our work is dedicated to scientific study to create understanding of the nature of this illness, its causes, and most importantly, how can it be effectively treated.

The purpose of this website is to provide education about Fibromyalgia and support our research projects.  This website does not endorse any particular belief about FM other than these:

1. Fibromyalgia is a distinct clinical condition.

2. Fibromyalgia is frequently misdiagnosed, and this is because of a lack of understanding about the condition and other causes of chronic musculoskeletal pain.

3. Fibromyalgia is rooted in central nervous system dysfunction that leads to abnormal processing of pain.

4. Fibromyalgia – once understood – will be a treatable condition.

Text Box: Medical Advice

We do not provide any medical advice about Fibromyalgia or similar conditions you may have.  We encourage you to work closely with your own physician about your condition. If you feel your physician can benefit from the information presented on this website, please click here.
